I am currently in the 4th year of my Au.D. (Doctor of Audiology) through James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. When selecting my 4th year externship site I wanted a placement whose primary focus was evaluating the vestibular system. Arizona Balance and Hearing Associates appealed to me because it offers a wide variety of diagnostic testing not only in balance but hearing as well. In addition to enhancing my clinical skills, this site has provided me with the opportunity to enhance my research skills as well. The research in which I was able to partake in is examining the otolith function of the vestibular system utilizing the Subjective Visual Vertical and VEMP tests in normal and pathological patients. Arizona Balance and Hearing Associates has provided me with the knowledge and skills in several aspects of audiology that will allow me to go anywhere and do anything after graduation. I have enjoyed my experience here and look forward to applying my knowledge as a future audiologist.
